If your child has two or more costume changes during the show and needs help, please ask a backstage chaperone to help them.  Prior to the recital, you should have your child practice getting in and out of their costume on their own.

Dancers will have supervision while not on stage. When the show is over, Dancers in levels I & II will go to the dressing room to change and gather their belongings.  They will then be ushered back onto the stage where their parents will pick them up in the theater.

PRE-DANCE PARENTS ONLY (must read)

Upon arrival to the recital, ONE FEMALE PARENT will bring the child to the dressing room, sign their name as “GUARDIAN” and leave a cell phone number.  PUT YOUR PHONE ON VIBRATE!  When picking up your child after the show, the SAME guardian that checked the student in must check them out!

Prior to the recital, talk to your children about what will happen for the recital.  Explain to them that they will be backstage with the other kids in their class until you pick them up.  JUST LIKE SCHOOL (most pre-dance students go to pre-school, kindergarten or 1st grade) this is normal for them as long as it isn’t a surprise!  Talk about this and prepare them.

If for some reason your child reacts and begins to cry when you bring them backstage, take them to a quiet area AWAY FROM THE OTHERS immediately and try to calm them down (remind them of their trophy), once they are calm, leave.  If they do not calm down, don’t push it…they just might not be ready this year.  If your child is upset or there is a problem backstage, you will be called.  Don’t Worry!

 FAQ

1.  How long is Dress Rehearsal?

I don’t know.  Usually it will run 3-4 hours.   This is the first and only chance we get to rehearse the show in this space. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 2.  Do we have to stay for the whole Dress Rehearsal?

You have to stay at dress rehearsal until your dance is performed.  The dances will be performed in the order they are listed for the show.

 3.  Why does my child have to stay backstage for the whole show?

The house is for the audience, and the backstage is for the performers.  This very important rule makes it possible for the audience to enjoy the show, and the performers to stay focused.

 4.  Something has come up and we need to miss dress rehearsal (or) one night of the recital, is that ok?

No, it is not ok. Every student has been aware of the mandatory dates for rehearsal and recital since November.

 5.  My relative is unable to attend recital.  Can they come to dress rehearsal?

No.  One Parent per family (Pre-Dance, Level I & II) is permitted to attend dress rehearsal.  Please do not bring additional family members, children or friends, they will be asked to leave. No Parents Levels III, IV-Adult.

 6.   How do I pick my seats for the recital?
