Prior to the recital, talk to your children about what will happen for the recital.Explain to them that they will be backstage with the other kids in their class until you pick them up.JUST LIKE SCHOOL (most pre-dance students go to pre-school, kindergarten or 1st grade) this is normal for them as long as it isn’t a surprise!Talk about this and prepare them.
If for some reason your child reacts and begins to cry when you bring them backstage, take them to a quiet area AWAY FROM THE OTHERS immediately and try to calm them down (remind them of their trophy), once they are calm, leave. If they do not calm down, don’t push it…they just might not be ready this year.If your child is upset or there is a problem backstage, you will be called.Don’t Worry!
